Growing up in the States, my parents didn't allow me to have pets. Being an animal lover, I started pet sitting on the one-mile long street I grew up on in order to be around animals. It worked well for me as I was able to spend time with animals, and for the owners, it meant that they could feel more secure knowing that their pets were in good hands with someone close by. It was fun for me to go and spend time with the animals during the day, not at all a chore. Gradually I gained more business as I was referred to neighbor after neighbor and pretty soon my summers were spent pet sitting rather than going away!
I continued pet sitting on summer breaks from University. And happily, my flat-mates and I were able to get a Golden Retriever of our own. I loved taking him out on long walks and play dates with other dogs until graduation when another flat-mate took him home with her. Since moving to New Zealand to be with my Kiwi partner, first in Wellington and now in the beautiful Tauranga area, I have continued to look after pets while their owners are away. This way I'm still able to be around animals, however I look forward to the near future when I'm able to have pets of my own.
I'm excited to work with Absolutely Precious Paws and have the opportunity to do more of what I'm passionate about. You can feel comfortable that I would give your animals care, attention and any exercise they need. I'm easy to work with and flexible so would be accommodating to your needs and will care for your pet just like you would. I am dependable and 100% committed to the job.
