The new facility has been designed and built by Lisa Hudson and her husband Kerry of Absolutley Precious Paws.
There are 2 different play areas, one for dogs that are a bit bigger, more exuberant or very social. The other is for quieter or smaller dogs. Each outside area has its own pool and sandpit and there are climbing frames, swing balls, a bridge and a tunnel. Inside there are comfy leather couches, televisions and mats to lounge on. Each area has 7 adjoining suites for dogs boarding overnight or to retire to during the day. These have beds, some have carpet, and some have their own television.
The dogs will be assessed as they come in, to decide which area would be best for them. The dogs that are boarding can bring their own rug, so they feel more at home and need to bring their own food so they stay on their normal diet.
The boarding dogs are taken out for 2 short daily walks as well as the option of joining the group dog walk excursions to a local beach or park at a reduced rate. The Doggy Day Care dogs have the choice of a stay without a walk, with a walk or with a group walk to the beach or the park.
7am-Rise and shine, and outside and then breakfast. Out again after they have eaten.
8am-Face and bottom wash, clean up bedrooms.
11am-Play session. This can be soccer, rugby, water play, tennis, swing ball, bubbles, play on the climbing frame, tunnels, sandpit play. There are more options being added as we think of them.

3pm-Brush/bath time.
4pm-Short walks for boarding dogs.
5pm-Dinner.

I have been taking Dupree to Precious Paws since he was about 6 months old and now he is nearly 3! Initially I used to take him once a week so he got to learn to socialise with other dogs but also because I as I work from home he is with me 24 hours a day and it was important that he got used to being separated from me. The benefits were huge because as he got more used to being with Lisa and the other dogs, the more confidence I had leaving him overnite and even up to 3 weeks for a stay when I was overseas. Its hugely important to be able to relax when you are away and know that your all of your dogs needs are being met. I have 100% confidence that with Lisa they are. I dont even need to pack his food as I leave Lisa to take care of this brilliantly and at an extremely reasonable cost. What a time saver that alone is!
He now goes every week as part of his routine to get a social fun filled day with his mates getting lots of exercise too.
I cant speak highly enough of Lisa and the amazing way she cares for my puppy. She has created a wonderful safe and healthy environment for the dogs. I always feel as if he is treated as though he is special and to me thats special itself!

Hello My Name is Molly,
I am a female Border Collie/Blue Healer cross and I am just over a year old. I go to Doggy Day Care and I have fantastic fun. I race around all day with my canine friends, get lots of cuddles and even TV and music time. We have lots of great playthings. Tennis ball and bubble machines, chew toys, lots of balls of all different sizes, climbing frames etc etc and most of all, my favourite, a paddling pool. We are taken for walks, groomed patted petted and loved, and we even have our own rooms and a sofa to rest on. Wow what more could a girl want. I race around nearly all day I am so busy. My Mum and Dad think it is the best thing since sliced bread. It also has an added bonus for them, I am so exhausted when I get home I don’t even bother asking them to play. I eat my tea and sleep for the rest of the night, well one has to recoup and preserve one’s looks for the next visit doesn’t one?
Thank you to Lisa and all her hard workers for giving me a lovely place to stay in the daytime and also for the odd weekend when Mum and Dad are away.
Lots of love
Molly
Hi there
We have a female border collie/blue heeler cross called Molly who is just over 12 months old and who is full of beans. She has been going to Absolutely Precious Paws Doggy Day Care for three days a week for the past three months. She has gone from a dog who was terrified of the car and always car sick, to a dog that’s at the door waiting for us to hurry up so she can get going.
She has a fantastic time there and has many playmates. The new premises in Glasgow Street are fabulous and it is full of fun things to do and to play with, including sandpits and paddling pools. She can be taken for walks, groomed, petted, patted and loved. They have a full on program for the dogs, and include quiet time and music. They even have a sofa in there for the dogs to rest on.
Molly is so full on that this is ideal for her and absolutely tires her out. She comes home at night so exhausted from playing that she just eats her tea, flops on the floor and sleeps the night away. We can’t even tempt her to play. Gives us a break and we can actually watch TV and talk in peace.

Thank you for looking after Rocco during his day time stays twice a week. He loves going to Precious Paws, and it gives me peace of mind that he is not at home by himself 5 days a week. It is also very helpful that he is picked up in the mornings, as I am not able to drop him off. He is always happy and well groomed when I pick him up, and he always looks busy and cheerful when I have watched him on the live-feed cameras. I love seeing the photos from his group walks, the dogs always look like they are having so much fun. Thank you so much!

Here are some answers to some questions people have been asking..
Why did you move?
I had the dogs coming to my home. This became very popular and I had up to 20 of them there at a time. We needed more space for the dogs. Our council requires a home based business to stay within a 50 m2 area. They also require only a certain number of traffic movements per day. Additionally the dogs needed more well defined large and small dog areas. Individual suites allow the dogs their own space to have their things from home and an area they can sleep and eat in peace, without having to share their toys with others.
What facilities are there?
There is a reception area where we do initial assessments and there is a small retail area. There are separate large and small dog areas which both have outside yards. The outside areas have a pool and sandpit as well as swing ball, tunnel, bridge and toy boxes. Inside areas have leather couches and television sets. There are 14 adjoining suites, some of them are carpeted, and some have their own televisions. The suites have different sized beds and there are hot water bottles as well as microwave heat pads. Some have sheepskin rugs. All have rugs but we encourage you to bring your dog’s bed from home, so s/he feels more at home. Each room has a lockable container to store your dog’s food which you also bring from home. There is a little box up high for all their bits and pieces. There is a fridge/freezer for the wet food. There are internet cameras to view what’s happening and also to look in on the suites. We have a variety of balls as well as a tennis ball machine. There is another toy box with activities for our twice daily play sessions. These include soccer balls, rugby ball, bubble makers, torches. There is a treadmill for the dogs.
We have a hydro bath so offer a brush, bath and dry service as well as grooming. Ella is our resident groomer. Additionally we offer training for your dogs particular issues. Bridee is our resident trainer and is starting one day a week and increasing as the number of dogs and demand for her training increases.
What is the dog’s schedule?
7am-Rise and shine, and outside and then breakfast. Out again after they have eaten.
8am-Face and bottom wash, clean up bedrooms.
9am-Short walks
10am-Long walks to the beach or the park
11am-Play session. This can be soccer, rugby, water play, tennis, swing ball, bubbles, play on the climbing frame, tunnels, sandpit play. There are more options being added as we think of them.
12pm-Quiet time- chew toys or bone time for those boarding dogs allowed these.
2pm-2nd Play session.
3pm-Brush/bath time.
4pm-Short walks for boarding dogs.
5pm-Dinner.
6pm-TV/relaxing time.
9pm-Last run round and pee stop outside.
What hours are you open?
7am until 6 pm weekdays and then we go back again at night for a pee break for the dogs. Weekends we are open 8-10 and 3-5 for drop offs and pick up, arrangements can be made if you need times outside these hours. It does pay to let us know the drop off or pick up time.
Is there someone with them all the time?
From 7am until 6 pm...and then again before bedtime at 9pm. On the weekends the dogs schedule is a little more relaxing but we still have walks, beach walks and play sessions. When we aren’t there we monitor them via the phone line and with the internet cameras.
What happens overnight?
The dogs are put in their suites at night after 9pm. After a day if fun and excitement they are usually tired out and sleep well. We listen in on them with the phone lines and moniter them via the infared internet cameras. If there is a problen with a dog making noise a staff member comes and attends to them and if necessary there is a bed they can stay the night.
I’m worried about security...
The building is fully alarmed with door and motion sensors and smoke alarms. The perimeter of the location is also fenced and locked. There is security lighting and we listen in via the telephone lines and view via internet cameras. Our alarm has a function we can listen in and talk to any intruders, should they dare to enter a building full of dogs. Additionally I am told the police will soon be moving in across the road.
Can you still take them home at night time?
I offer overnight boarding at my place. There is an additional charge which is $20 more than the boarding at the facility price. The pricing is therefore for an extended doggy day care day, a taxi ride both ways and to stay overnight at my place.
What about the pickup and drop off service?
I used to offer a free pick up and drop off service to keep the traffic movements down when I was at home. This isn’t an issue in a commercial area, so you are welcome to drop off and collect your dog within our opening hours, or by arrangement outside these hours. If you still require a pick up or drop off its $7.50 each way.
Are the prices going to go up?
I am hoping the increase in the number of dogs will cover the extra costs as well as our clients utilising our new grooming and training services and our small/exclusive retail area. Any increase will be due to a user pays principle i.e.
There will be a surcharge for higher need dogs i.e. puppies, unneutered dog.
We will be charging extra if your dog requires any individual time spent with them e.g. they become unwell or are more demanding. If you know they are likely to need more attention, then alerting us to this will be at a cheaper rate than if we discover after they come in.
The larger dog boarding suites are twice the size of the small dog suites, so there will be a slight increase in medium to large dog boarding. Currently the difference in price is only $1.50.
We have our annual review in October. Any bookings made after then but paid for before will be at the current rate.
