  • The Pet Sitter is caring, committed, consistent, honest, responsible, accountable, has initiative and good judgement, enthusiastic and strives for excellence
  • The Pet Sitter exhibits courtesy and professionalism in all dealings with staff members, customers and industry colleagues so as to present the pet sitter and the pet sitting industry favourably and positively.
  • The Pet Sitter has experience and qualifications in caring for pets and is able to recognise the signs of illness in animals and take appropriate steps if animals are unwell.
  • The Pet Sitter is tidy in peoples houses and tidy of appearance
  • The Pet Sitter is trained and attends on going training sessions
  • The Pet Sitter is covered by liability insurance
  • The Pet Sitter has had a police check done
  • The Pet Sitter provides references
  • The Pet Sitter provides written literature describing services and stating fees
  • The Pet Sitter provides a service contract
  • The Pet Sitter visits the client's home before the first pet sitting assignment to meet the pets and get detailed information about their care.
  • The Pet Sitter shows a positive attitude during the initial meeting and seems comfortable and competent dealing with animals.
  • The Pet Sitter wants to learn as much as possible about the animals in his or her care.
  • The Pet Sitter takes precautions to make sure a client's absence from home is not detected because of any careless actions or disclosures by the Pet Sitter.
  • The Pet Sitter has a contingency plan for pet care in case of inclement weather or personal illness.
  • The Pet Sitter calls to confirm or has the client call to confirm the client has returned home as scheduled.
